Cabarrus Summer Reading Program kicking off June 15

The Summer Reading Program encourages summer reading and education through programs and events around a centralized theme.

Dates: June 15-August 15

SRP Themes:

Birth to 3 – “Every Hero has a Story”

Ages 4-12 – “Every Hero has a Story”

Teens – “Unmask!”

Adults – “Escape the Ordinary”

Any Cabarrus County resident can participate. The program divides participants into groups with age-appropriate activities. Pick up a reading log at any branch of the library. In the two months of the program, participants can qualify for a prize by logging hours spent reading.

Prizes:

Get a prize for signing up:

Kids ages 0-12 get a reading record, bookmark, bag and stamper

Teens get a reading record, bookmark and earbuds in a case

Adults get a reading record and bookmark

Earn a free book

Kids ages 0-3 earn a free book after logging 10 hours

Kids ages 4-12 earn a free book after logging 15 hours

Teens earn a free book after logging 20 hours

Adults earn a free book after reading five books

Individuals in each age group can submit book reviews for a chance to win a tote bag. Winners selected by random draw. Limit of one entry per week.

Teens can submit puzzle/brain teaser entries for a chance to win a water bottle or notebook. Winners selected by random draw. Limit of one entry per week.

The Guessing Jar – Participants of all ages will have the opportunity to guess the amount of items in a jar. Each jar will stay at each branch one month. At the end of the month, the winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to Books-a-Million.
